A comment at the library made me reconsider AI in education

I was waiting in line at the public library in Springfield yesterday and heard a teacher talking to the librarian. She said, 'The new reading tutor bot helped three of my students improve a full grade level in six weeks.' I had only thought of AI as something for tech people, not for helping kids learn. It made me wonder what other quiet changes are happening in schools. Has anyone else seen AI tools being used in unexpected places like that?

But what happens to the kids who can't afford that tech?

My cousin's school district in Ohio just gave every kid a tablet, but half the families can't pay for home internet. They get to watch their classmates do the fancy digital projects while they're stuck with a paper worksheet from 2003. It's like setting up a free buffet but only letting in the people who already ate. We're basically building two separate school systems right in front of everyone and calling it progress.
