AI translation still can't handle sarcasm properly and it bugs me
I tried translating a Reddit comment that said 'Oh great, another meeting' into Spanish using GPT-4o and DeepL, and both gave back something that sounded like I was genuinely excited. If the AI can't tell when someone is being sarcastic, it's useless for actual conversation. Anyone else run into this with non-English forums?

Well, "useless for actual conversation" might be a bit extreme. Sarcasm is tough for AI because it relies on tone and context, and text strips that away. Even people miss it sometimes in written form.

Yeah, you make a fair point @the_elizabeth. Even US meatbags mess up sarcasm in texts sometimes, so expecting AI to nail it every time is a LOT. Guess we're all just bad at this whole 'reading tone' thing, huh?
