Changed my mind about AI transcription after a meeting at a coffee shop

I was at a coffee shop in Austin last week and overheard a guy using an AI transcription app for his client meeting. I always thought those tools were gimmicky and full of errors. But I watched him pull up the transcript right after, and it caught every detail including the specific dollar amounts they discussed. It convinced me to try one for my own work calls and now I use it daily. Has anyone else had that moment where you saw a tool work and just had to admit you were wrong?

My 20 years of running a small business have taught me one thing - no tool replaces a good note taker. I tried one of those apps myself and ended up with a transcript full of "umms" and "uhhs" and people talking over each other. The AI had no idea who was saying what when three people started talking at once. I just use a simple notebook now and write down the key numbers and action items myself. It takes me an extra five minutes but I trust my own ears more than a computer.
