I actually think generative AI is ruining the craft of writing, not improving it

Used to spend 45 minutes crafting a single email response to a client about my dog grooming prices, but now I see people copy-pasting ChatGPT replies without even checking the tone and it makes me wonder if we've traded personality for speed.

Lots of people forget that checking the tone is actually the most important part though... sure it saves time but not if you have to rewrite the whole thing anyway. There's this groomer in my area who posts these super formal bio blurbs that sound like a lawyer wrote them and it's so obvious it was AI. Takes more time to fix that than just writing it yourself from the start.
