I saw a demo at a tech meetup in Austin where an AI wrote a full song in under two minutes.
It was at a small event at a coffee shop on South Congress last Thursday. The presenter fed it a simple prompt about a rainy day and a mood, and it generated lyrics, melody, and even a basic arrangement. I've always thought AI art was cool, but seeing it create a whole piece of music that actually sounded decent was wild. It makes me wonder how this will change things for small creators who need quick background tracks. Has anyone else seen AI tools that are good for making music now?

Sounds like a great way to flood the internet with even more generic coffee shop music. Hope it at least remembered to add the fake vinyl crackle for that authentic feel.

Aaron's got a point about the generic sound. The real trick will be if these tools can ever learn to be weird on purpose, to make something that sounds wrong in an interesting way. Right now it's all just averaging out what already exists. Maybe the next wave of AI music will just be ten thousand slightly different versions of that one sad indie folk song from every TV show.
