My coworker swore by that AI tool for drafting emails but it made me sound like a passive-aggressive robot to my boss

I used that new AI writing assistant for a quick update to my manager and it inserted 'per your request' three times in one paragraph, so now I'm back to typing everything myself, has anyone else had their AI helper completely miss the tone of a workplace message?

Honestly I used to think these tools were a godsend but after watching a buddy's AI rewrite his "hey just checking in" to "I trust this message finds you in good health and eagerly awaits your response" I was like nah this is cursed lol. The first time I tried one for a quick project update it literally added "Please advise at your earliest convenience" like it was summoning a Victorian ghost to haunt my inbox. Now I just type my own stuff and save the robot for proofreading only.

Hahaha "Victorian ghost" is the perfect way to put it @baker.ben. That buddy rewrite example is brutal, like does anyone actually talk like that in real life? I've seen people send those over-polished AI messages and it creates this weird distance, makes you sound like a corporate brochure. My real question though is do you think the AI is making people forget how to write naturally altogether? Because I swear I get messages now that are clearly AI generated and I instantly trust them less, like the person couldn't be bothered to type two sentences themselves. It just feels hollow when you can tell a robot phrased everything. Proofreading only is the move for sure, keeps your voice without the awkward fluff.
