My old foreman swore by chalk lines over laser levels for framing

Told me lasers drift in humidity, and sure enough my $90 laser was off by a quarter inch on a job in New Orleans last summer, has anyone else had this happen with mid-range lasers?

Take a closer look at that quarter inch error. Most mid-range lasers are tested in controlled environments, not 90% humidity in New Orleans, so the specs are accurate for ideal conditions, not real-world humidity. You might be better off spending more on a higher-end unit rated for high moisture, or just stick with the chalk line if you work in that kind of weather regularly.

Yeah @elliot_miller22 got me rethinking this, I always figured chalk lines were just old school stubbornness.
