Read that a new AI model can now predict protein shapes in under 10 minutes, used to take years. Found it in a Nature article yesterday.

That Nature article probably left out the error rate. Predicting a shape is one thing, but getting it right for a complex protein under real conditions is another. I'll believe it when independent labs can actually use these models to develop real drugs. This feels like another flashy headline that over promises.

Reminds me of software updates that promise big fixes but just move the bugs around. The gap between a lab demo and something that actually works for people is huge. We see it with tech all the time, where the marketing version is way smoother than the real thing you deal with.
