Trying to get an AI to write a simple poem about my dog took me 3 hours

I thought it would be a quick prompt, but the outputs were either too robotic or completely off-topic. Has anyone else had a simple creative task turn into a huge time sink with AI?

Absolutely, it's like pulling teeth. I asked for a haiku about my cat and got a sonnet about the industrial revolution. @thomas291 has the right idea. I spent an hour trying to get a decent birthday message for my mom. The AI kept suggesting "congratulations on your continued cellular respiration" instead of "happy birthday.
