Watched a model confidently invent a fake city council meeting in Akron and now I check everything
I was at a small tech meetup in Akron last month and a guy demoed an AI tool that summarized local government notes. Someone in the crowd asked it about a zoning vote, and it gave a whole answer with a date, a vote count of 5 to 2, and two made up council member names. The room clapped. I pulled up the actual meeting minutes on my phone and none of it was real, not one part. I brought it up after and the guy said the model just does that sometimes and you have to double check the output. That was the scariest part to me, nobody in that room of 40 people seemed bothered by it. Now I run every AI summary I get through a search before I trust a single fact. Has anyone else seen a model fake a source like that in front of a crowd?
