That analyst at the coffee shop showed me how AI is still missing context

I overheard a guy at Blue Bottle in Brooklyn last Tuesday explaining to his friend how he uses an AI tool to summarize earnings calls. He said the AI kept missing the tone when the CEO was being sarcastic or dodgy on purpose. That stuck with me because it means we are still far from AI truly understanding human nuance. Has your work run into problems where AI misses the obvious context?

My buddy Mike who trades options had the same problem last quarter. He was using an AI to read Fed transcripts and it completely missed when Powell was being intentionally vague about rate cuts, took everything at face value. Made him look bad in a few meetings until he caught on. The sarcasm and dodgy answers thing is real, AI just doesn't get the vibe yet.

Yeah, the "intentionally vague" part is exactly where I had issues too. What worked for me was using two different AIs to read the same transcript and comparing where they disagreed, that caught the fuzzy language better.
