Tried to predict my sister's flight delay with an AI app in Denver and it was dead wrong
I was stuck at DIA last Tuesday and a new AI flight tracker swore her 6pm arrival would be delayed 40 minutes, so I grabbed a burger instead of rushing to the gate. She walked out at 5:55 while I was still chewing, and now I'm wondering if these tools are just guessing with extra steps. Has anyone actually seen one of these get it right when the weather is bad?
I had decent luck with the free version of FlightAware last winter at O'Hare during a snowstorm, it flagged my 8am as delayed about 3 hours out and it actually slipped to 9:40. The catch is it only works well when the airline already pushed the update, so for a random 40 minute guess on a clear day it's basically rolling dice.
