Discovered the spray oil trick after burning garlic powder on everything for 3 months

I kept getting that bitter burnt taste on my fries and finally realized if I just spray the oil on the food instead of mixing it in the bowl, the garlic and paprika don't scorch into the basket and now everything comes out perfect, anyone else have a seasoning timing issue they fixed by accident?

Wait your chili powder was burning too? I thought I was the only one with that problem. I switched to spraying after seasoning for my oven fries and it made such a difference. Now I just put the spices on first and then lightly spray oil on top. No more bitter taste at all.

Same thing happened to me but with chili powder on chicken wings. Thought I was just bad at cooking until I switched to spraying after the seasoning went on. Now I just dust everything dry and hit it with the oil spray last - no more burnt spices and way less cleanup.
