I was logging a parts order last Tuesday at our shop near DFW and realized I had just finished my 10,000th wheel brake replacement. Started counting back in 2005 when I was turning wrenches on 737s for a regional carrier, never thought I'd see that number. It hit me how much has changed, those old hydraulic brakes needed constant bleeding and now it's all carbon and electronic controls. Anyone else ever track a specific job count over their career, or am I just too weird with my logbooks?
That logbook habit is wild but I get it, you don't rack up 10k brake jobs without writing stuff down. Question though, how many of those 10,000 were the old hydraulic setups vs the carbon ones? I'm curious if the switch to electronic controls cut your come-back rate way down or if it just traded one headache for another.
