An old timer's torque comment made me check my habit
Last Tuesday I was torquing a main wheel nut on a 737 and a lead mechanic walked by and said, 'you know, that click you hear is just the beginning, not the end.' I had been doing the standard pull and stop for years. He showed me how he always backs it off and re-torques once to seat the threads better. Took me 20 extra seconds but now I feel like I actually know what I'm doing. Anyone else ever get a tip that simple that changed the way you work?

That back off and reset trick probably saves you from a lot of guesswork down the line.
