Found a cracked bushing on a Cessna 172 during an annual last Tuesday

I was doing the landing gear inspection on a customer's 172 out of our hangar in Dayton. The logbook showed a fresh annual just six months prior from another shop. I almost missed it, but the light caught a hairline crack in the left main gear's pivot bushing. It makes you wonder what else gets glanced over when the schedule is tight. Has anyone else found a similar surprise on a plane with recent paperwork?

That Dayton shop probably just had a bad angle on the light. A hairline crack in six months isn't exactly shocking.

A fresh annual means they checked the big stuff. Hairline cracks can form in six months of hard landings, it doesn't mean the last shop missed it.
