I thought a loose wire was just a quick fix until a King Air at our field

During a routine inspection in Tulsa, I found a chafed wire bundle behind the main panel. I almost just taped it, but my boss said 'trace it all the way'. Found two more spots about to fail. Anyone else have a simple find turn into a bigger job?

That "quick fix" feeling is the biggest trap in the hangar. You start with a little chafing on one wire and next thing you know you're three hours deep, pulling panels you didn't even know the plane had. It's like finding one mouse and then realizing you need to call an exterminator for the whole family living in the walls. Your boss was totally right to make you trace it all, even though it probably felt like a pain at the time. Those hidden spots are the ones that'll get you.

Totally get where stellap49 is coming from. Used to think that way too. But man, finding that one chewed wire bundle behind the insulation last year changed my whole view.

Sounds a bit overkill for some chafing though.
