Lost a $300 torque wrench to an open cowl flap

Last Tuesday I set my snap-on torque wrench on top of an open cowl flap while I grabbed a socket from my box. Wind caught the flap, slammed it shut, and the wrench dropped straight into the engine bay. Took me 45 minutes with a magnetic picker to fish it out from behind the oil cooler. Has anyone else dropped a tool down into a tight spot and had to get creative to retrieve it?
