Showerthought: I was reading an old Cessna 172 maintenance manual from 1978 and the torque spec for the nose gear bolts was 50 inch-pounds lower than the current IPC says. Found it in a box of junk manuals at a hangar in Bellingham.

Could be the old spec was just wrong though.

Yeah, the old spec being wrong happens more than you'd think. My buddy spent a whole weekend building a cabinet to the exact measurements in the manual. When it didn't fit, he checked and the company had posted a correction online months ago. He was so mad he almost threw the whole thing out. Have you ever had that happen with a project?

Building a cabinet is frustrating, but throwing it out seems a bit extreme.
