Showing a rookie how to torque bolts brought back memories

A rookie asked me to show him how to set a torque wrench. It made me think back to when my boss taught me the same thing by hand. Do you still get to pass on skills face-to-face like that?

Oh yeah, nothing beats showing someone the ropes in person. Just last week I walked a new guy through checking bearing preload by hand. Felt just like when my mentor took the time with me. Really makes the job mean something more. Hope we never lose that kind of teaching.
