Stripped a drain plug thread on a CRJ at 2am, fixed it with a tap set

Was changing oil on a CRJ in the hangar last Tuesday and cross-threaded the sump drain plug so bad it wouldn't bite. Grabbed a tap set from the box and chased the threads clean, then used a new plug with a bit of sealant. Anyone else carry a tap kit in their box for nights like that, or do you just order the whole pan?
