That Thursday in July when three planes came in with the exact same bad fuel control unit

We had twelve mechanics working double shifts for two days straight trying to track down a phantom issue on a 737, turned out all three had the same batch of FCUs from the overhaul shop with a bad seal, and the senior lead finally just walked out to the hangar floor at 2am and said everybody go home this is a vendor problem.

Had a similar nightmare with a fleet of A320s last fall. Three of them landed within 48 hours with the same weird bleed air fault, and we tore the whole fleet apart before someone noticed they all came from the same line maintenance station in Dallas. Did the vendor ever own up to it?

Nah, they never admitted it. Just blamed the mechanics and moved on.
