Customer panels with sticky labels are my new pet peeve

Went to a service call in Phoenix yesterday for a keypad that kept beeping false alarms. Turns out the homeowner stuck a handwritten label right over the tamper vent on the panel, said their kid did it for 'decoration.' I've seen this three times this month alone, people just don't think about airflow or sensor ports. Why do manufacturers put those vents in the most label-friendly spot? Anyone else deal with this or have a trick to redirect customers without sounding like a jerk?

Sticky labels over vents is a classic case of people decorating without reading the manual. Saw the same thing with a Nest thermostat last week, sticker right over the humidity sensor. Maybe manufacturers could put a tiny warning icon next to the vent, but honestly people gonna people. I just tell customers the panel needs to "breathe" and that fixes it 90% of the time.
