Finally listened to a customer about keypad placement

Had a homeowner in Columbus tell me last month that my standard keypad placement was driving her nuts. She said she had to walk past the front door every time just to disarm the system when she came in from the garage. I moved it to the mudroom entrance and she was right, it made so much more sense for how they actually live. Has anyone else changed their default install spots based on how people really use their homes?

Honestly, that's a solid catch. Ngl, a lot of installers just follow the blueprint instead of watching how people actually move through their house. Did you end up moving the siren or any other hardware too, or just the keypad? Because I've seen situations where moving the keypad creates a dead zone for the motion sensor in the hallway if you're not careful with the zone programming.

Three times last year I put keypads right behind doors that swing open, so my bad placement was way worse than yours. I swear I double check motion sensor zones maybe four times now after I turned a hallway into a dead zone for three weeks before a customer called me out on it.
