Found a weird battery drain fact in an old Honeywell manual

I was looking through a Honeywell Vista 20P manual from 2009 for a different issue and saw a note about standby current. It said a standard 12V 7Ah battery should last about 24 hours on standby if the panel draws 300mA, but I tested a newer panel and it was pulling almost 500mA! That extra draw cuts the backup time way down. Has anyone else checked their panel's actual standby draw lately?

Huh, that's interesting but is it really a big deal? Most power outages are way shorter than 24 hours anyway. I'd only worry if you live somewhere with constant long blackouts.

Have you ever had your fridge full of food go bad, @kai_bennett? Even a 12-hour outage in summer can spoil hundreds in groceries. It's not just about the lights being off.
