Heard a new installer say wireless is always better than hardwired sensors

I was picking up supplies at ADI last Tuesday and overheard a young guy telling his partner that wireless is the way to go in every situation. He said hardwired is old tech and slows down installs too much. Has anyone else noticed newer guys ignoring the reliability of hardwired connections just because wireless is faster to put in?

Ericp67 nailed it with that reliability point. The whole thing reminds me of how everyone wants the fastest option now, even if it's not the best... like how people use self checkout to save time but end up dealing with errors and missing the human touch. Hardwired sensors don't drop connections or need batteries changed in the middle of the night. Wireless is great for quick retrofits but calling it better in every situation is just ignoring physics. Saw a guy the other day who insisted on using a wireless keypad near a metal door frame and it failed on the second test. @ericp67 is right, there's a reason we still pull wire in commercial and high security work.

New guy's got a point about speed but acting like hardwired is dead? That's a stretch. Plenty of homes still need a solid wired connection for reliability.
