Hot take: I'm seeing way too many guys skip the final walkthrough with the homeowner.

Just finished a job in Springfield where the client called me back because a motion sensor was aimed right at their heater vent, causing false alarms every morning. I know the installer, he's good, but he rushed the handoff. How do you guys make sure you have enough time for that final system test with the owner present?

My buddy had a client call him back because the keypad was behind a door that swung open and blocked it. You ever see stuff like that?

Three different houses last year had the alarm panel installed behind a door that opened inward into a closet. The worst one was a utility closet where they had to squeeze past a water heater just to punch in the code. My buddy actually walked away from a job once because the homeowner insisted on putting the keypad behind a heavy sliding barn door that would knock you over if you tried to reach it.

We started blocking out a full hour for the final walkthrough on every job. It forces us to slow down and actually run through every sensor with the homeowner.
