Hot take: those $8 wireless window sensors are fine for most jobs
I used to refuse to install wireless contacts on anything but a temporary basis because I assumed the batteries would die in a year and I'd be rolling trucks for free. Last spring I put 14 of them on a split level in Naperville and wrote the install date on each one with a Sharpie, and two and a half years later the customer hasn't called once about a dead battery. Anyone else running cheap wireless on permanent installs, or am I playing with fire here?
