My luckiest day on the job in 3 years

Had a customer call me last Tuesday to say their motion detector caught a package thief red-handed at 2 AM. Their Ring doorbell had been down for a week but that old hardwired system (from 2014, believe it or not) still did the job. Has anyone else had a cheap older system save the day like that?

So did your cheap old system get clear enough footage to actually identify the thief?

Funny you ask... the footage was so grainy it looked like a security camera from the 80s. Couldn't make out a single feature on the guy's face, just a blurry blob with a hoodie. The only thing it was good for was estimating his height, and even that was a guess. Basically paid for a system that tells me someone was definitely there and definitely human... real helpful. Guess I'll stick to making sure my doors are locked and hoping for the best.

Yeah, the grainy footage gave me a solid description of 'some dude with a hoodie' but that was about it for my setup too.
