Paid $400 for a cellular dialer backup, saved me from a $5k callback last month

Worked a commercial job in Tulsa back in April. Owner cheaped out on the landline, wanted just the basic panel. I pushed for the cellular module, he said no. So I bought it myself at cost, installed it anyway, itemized it on the invoice. Last week lightning took out the whole phone line in that strip mall. Alarm company tripped, called me, we got in remotely before anyone even noticed. Owner never said thanks, but he also never had a break-in during the two days it took Bell to fix the line. That's $400 I’ll spend again on every install where the customer hesitates. Anyone else eat the cost on a backup just to cover your own warranty?
