Saw a weird sensor placement at a new apartment building in Phoenix

I was checking out a friend's new place last week, a big complex near the airport. In the shared laundry room, they had a standard motion sensor mounted right above the dryer vent. The heat and steam from the dryer kept setting it off, causing false alarms. The installers clearly didn't think about the environment. Has anyone else run into problems with sensors near appliances like that?

Can relate, my own thermostat hates my toaster.

Yeah, the dryer vent thing is bad. My buddy had a similar issue where they put a smoke detector right over his kitchen stove. It went off every time he cooked anything.
