Serious question, has anyone else had a panel swap go sideways because of old phone line wiring?
Last month I swapped out a 15 year old panel in a house near Tacoma and found the old phone line still tied into the dialer terminals, which backfed 12 volts into the new board. I pulled the phone line and the panel booted fine, but now the homeowner is asking why their old keypad in the garage still lights up even though I disconnected it. Should I chase that dead run down or just cap it and move on?
