Showerthought: Door contact placement with weather stripping has me puzzled.

I was installing a system last week and noticed that if the weather stripping is too thick, the door contact might not align properly. This can cause false alarms or missed events. I ended up adjusting the magnet position, but I'm wondering if there's a standard way to handle this. Any tips would be great, lol.

Hey what about shimming the contact body itself instead of just the magnet? A little plastic spacer behind the bracket can save a ton of headache.

On my last project the bracket alignment was maybe half a millimeter off. We spent twenty minutes debating shims before I just bent the tab with pliers. Sometimes guys over-engineer a fix for a problem that doesn't even exist yet. If the magnet shim works, you're done. No need to invent extra steps.

Bending the tab seems like a quick fix, but it can weaken the metal over time. A proper shim or spacer is the right way to solve the alignment for good.
