SkyBell video doorbell turned out to be way better than I thought
I was real skeptical about putting in a SkyBell for a customer last month. I had heard too many stories about them dropping wifi and the app being buggy. But the client insisted because their neighbor had one and loved it. I installed it in about 45 minutes total, and I have to say the connection held solid through the whole setup. The video quality was actually impressive, even at night. Has anyone else had a change of heart on a specific brand or product after giving it a real shot?

And that client wifi setup is usually where these things fall apart, so if it held through the whole 45 minutes that’s a good sign. I’ve started testing the connection before mounting anything now, just run the doorbell from the box to make sure it won’t drop before I drill. Makes the whole thing way less painful when the install goes smooth like that.

lol I actually just read something the other day about how SkyBell fixed a bunch of their firmware issues last year. Apparently they had some major cloud server problems early on but they switched providers or something and it got way more stable. I was kinda ready to hate on them too based on the old horror stories but that article made me curious enough to maybe give one a try myself. It's crazy how much a company can turn things around with a few software updates if they actually care about it.

Honestly, that's exactly how I feel too. It's so easy to write off a product just because of bad reviews from a couple years ago, but sometimes companies really do wake up and fix their mess. Glad to hear they actually switched providers instead of just slapping a bandaid on it, that takes some real effort. Tbh I respect that a lot more than a brand that just ignores the issues and hopes people forget. If they keep making smart updates like that, I might actually be tempted to try one myself down the road. Nice to know I'm not the only one who's cautiously optimistic about them now.
