Spent 4 hours chasing a false alarm on a DSC system before realizing the installer before me left a spare keypad battery in the attic that was corroding and arching.

How long did it take you guys to figure out something stupid like that and have you ever found a weird object left behind that caused issues?

Wait are we really calling 4 hours a huge deal? Ive done way dumber stuff that took way longer to track down. Like that time I spent two days on a intermittent power issue that turned out to be a loose neutral on a breaker. The attic battery story is funny but its not exactly crazy. Installers leave junk behind all the time. I found a half eaten sandwich in a control panel once. Smelled bad but didnt cause any shorts.
