Update: A job at a bakery in Denver made me rethink my default sensor placements

I kept getting false alarms from the motion sensor I put near the ovens until the owner mentioned the heat waves messing with it. Anyone have a go-to spot for PIRs in kitchens with heavy equipment?

Tell that to the sensor freaking out over a hot tray, stellap49. My go-to spot is the ceiling, far away from the ovens.

Used to think she was just being dramatic about the sensor until my own kitchen set off the alarm from a warm baking sheet. Ceiling mount makes total sense now, keeps it clear of all the steam and direct heat that messes with the readings. Might be overkill for some but it's a solid fix if you're tired of false alarms.

Why not just get a better sensor instead of moving it? Heat waves shouldn't be a problem for decent gear.
