Am I the only one who tried counting Denali from the Parks Highway and got a reality check
Last June I pulled over at the Denali viewpoint near mile 135 on the Parks Highway with my phone's altimeter app, positive I could eyeball the summit. I stood there in 45 degree drizzle staring at a wall of gray cloud for 40 minutes before a tour bus driver named Ray told me people wait days for a clear look at that mountain. Turns out the tallest peak in North America hides most of the summer and locals just shrug it off. So what's your record, how many trips up there before you actually saw the top?
