Denali broke me at mile 37, and I already put the deposit down for next year
Bagged my first Denali summit attempt last month and turned around at 17,200 feet on the West Buttress. The number that got me wasn't the elevation, it was 37 days on the mountain and 58 pounds of gear on my back before I even hit the fixed lines. My tent mate from Talkeetna flat out refused to rope up past the headwall and honestly I should have listened to him. Anyone else here eat the permit fee and go home early, or am I the only one who keeps paying $400 a year to get humbled by the same mountain?
