Finally broke down and bought a good pair of insulated bibs for winter fishing
I spent $180 on a set of Carhartt Arctic bibs after freezing my butt off for two seasons with cheap rain pants layered over thermals out on the Kenai. First trip out, 15 degrees with wind, and I stayed warm for 5 hours straight without having to stop and stomp around. Anyone else find a piece of gear that just made winter bearable up here?

Toss a pair of mittens over your gloves, game changer for me.

Used to swear by just gloves alone, thought mittens were too bulky to do anything in. Then @mia_singh24 I tried your trick on a freezing job last season, and my hands stayed warm for hours without losing any grip. Grabbed a cheap pair of fleece mittens from the gas station and never looked back. You really can't beat that extra layer when the wind kicks up and your fingertips start going numb. What kind of mittens do you reach for?
