Finally figured out why my boat trailer lights kept dying on the Seward Highway
Took me three seasons and $150 in replacement parts to realize it was just a bad ground connection on the hitch (you know, that stupid little wire everyone ignores). Anyone else spend way too long chasing a simple fix up here?

Oh buddy, don't even get me started. I spent an entire summer convinced my boat trailer had a gremlin living in the wiring harness. Turns out it was just a corroded connection where the ground wire bolts to the frame. A little sandpaper and dielectric grease and suddenly everything works perfect. You figure after the first saltwater trip you'd learn to check the simple stuff first, but no, I had to buy three new sets of LED lights and rewire the whole thing twice. At least now I know exactly where to look when the lights start flickering on the way to Whittier again.

Was the corrosion hidden under paint or just out in the open?
