Had a moose stand on my tent near Denali, here's what I did
Camped out at a spot off the Parks Highway about 20 miles from the park entrance, trying to catch the northern lights in late September. Around 2am I hear this heavy breathing and then the whole tent starts sagging, thought it was snow load but nope, a big bull moose had walked right over my guy lines and was standing on the vestibule. I stayed dead still for like 5 minutes, heart pounding, then I slowly unzipped the inner mesh and yelled as loud as I could from inside the sleeping bag. He jumped off and trotted away, but my pole snapped in two places and the fly was torn. I had to rig it with paracord and a trekking pole for the rest of the night, and honestly the wind chill was brutal. Since then I always carry bear spray even if I'm not in bear country, and I stake the tent way out from where my head is. Anyone else had a moose or caribou night visitor up there? That was the sketchiest wildlife moment I've had in 15 years of camping.
