Rant: My new routine of checking river ice with a spud bar every morning

I started this after seeing a neighbor's truck go through last winter. Now I feel a lot safer driving to my cabin.

Gotta respect that dedication to not recreating your neighbor's submarine truck experiment. Nothing like a little morning ice whacking to really make you feel alive, or at least not dead at the bottom of a river.

Seriously, skipping that submarine truck thing is a lifesaver! It's wild how people try stuff like that without thinking. Morning ice whacking might sound silly, but it's way better than ending up in a river. I've seen too many online videos where things go wrong fast. Staying safe doesn't mean you can't have fun, just pick the fun that doesn't risk your life. So yeah, huge respect for choosing the ice whacking path!
