The midnight ferry schedule in Juneau caught me off guard
Honestly I always thought the state ferries ran on a pretty set timetable, especially in summer. But last week I tried to catch the 11pm run from Auke Bay to Haines and the sign said weather hold until 2am. Sat in the lot for almost 3 hours with two other cars, nobody got mad, we just traded coffee and talked about salmon runs. Learned that Alaska Marine Highway basically plays it by ear when wind kicks up past 35 knots. Has anyone else gotten stuck waiting on a ferry that just quietly delayed with no announcement?
