Took me 3 winters to figure out why my truck wouldn't start in Fairbanks.
Turns out the block heater cord was cracked inside the insulation, just a tiny split that I never saw. Cost me $18 and 20 minutes to fix after I finally pulled the whole thing out. Anybody else waste seasons on a dumb wiring issue?

Used to roll my eyes at people who swore by checking their block heater cords every fall. Figured if it looked fine on the outside it was good enough, you know? Then last year my neighbor's truck left him stranded for three days because the same thing happened - cracked insulation right where it bends near the plug. Cost him a tow AND a new battery because he kept cranking it. Now I'm that guy who pulls the whole cord out every October and runs my fingers along every inch. Guess I owe those old timers an apology.

Tape up that bend with electrical tape before winter hits. Saves a headache later.
