Tried to make a moose call with a coffee can and some string

I saw a video online about how you can make a simple moose call with an old coffee can and a piece of wet string. I was out near Palmer last fall and decided to try it, thinking it would be a funny story. I spent a good 20 minutes pulling the string, and instead of a moose, I attracted a VERY confused and angry squirrel that chattered at me from a tree for five minutes straight. My buddy just laughed and said, 'Well, you called SOMETHING.' I learned that wildlife doesn't always follow the internet's plans. Has anyone else had a DIY animal call totally backfire?

That squirrel was probably the first-chair violinist.

Wait, first-chair violinist? That squirrel? Are you telling me that little creature was classically trained? I am genuinely baffled by this detail, I have to admit. Like, how would a squirrel even hold a violin with those tiny paws? And where would it learn to read sheet music, let alone keep time with an orchestra? That must have been one very dedicated squirrel with an incredible work ethic.

Maybe the squirrel thought you were starting a weird string instrument band.
