Warning: I just found out moose can run 35 mph through deep snow

I was reading a state wildlife report online last night and saw that moose can reach 35 miles per hour even in two feet of snow. That surprised me because I always thought their big legs would slow them down in winter conditions. How many of you have actually had a close call with a moose on a trail or near your home in Alaska?

Yeah "35 mph through deep snow" got me too. I always figured they'd be slow and clumsy in snow, like walking through mud. But I read that same stat last winter and it completely changed how I act around them. Now I give them way more space, especially in winter when they're already stressed.

Realized the same thing happens with a lot of animals people underestimate. Like how fast deer can bolt or how strong a raccoon actually is.
