Got called out the same way last month when I said Death Note was all about "a genius kid playing god." Someone basically told me I was missing everything about the moral panic and media manipulation themes. @jackson.jenny your comment hit hard because now I actually think about why I like stuff instead of just saying it's "cool" or "deep." Been rewatching AOT with actual attention to the cycle of hatred stuff and feeling pretty dumb for missing it the first time. Growth arc unlocked feels right though, even if it stings a little.
