Found a way to keep up with seasonal anime without getting lost in the hype

I kept missing good shows because I only followed the big ones everyone talked about. Last season, I made a simple spreadsheet with three columns: show name, where to watch it, and a one-line note from the first episode. I put in 12 shows, and after three weeks, I cut it down to the five I actually liked. It stopped me from dropping a show too fast or forcing myself to finish a bad one. How do you guys sort through all the new stuff each season?

That spreadsheet idea is honestly genius. My method is way less organized, I just start like ten shows at once and then my brain gives up halfway through the season. I end up with a watchlist full of shows I only remember by the main character's hair color. Your way of cutting it down after a few weeks makes total sense, it's like a trial period instead of a full commitment. I might have to steal that system, because my current one is just a mess of open browser tabs I'm scared to close.

Oh man, @blake302, I feel that in my soul. My own list is just a note on my phone with titles I barely recognize. I tried the spreadsheet thing once, but I forgot to update it for three months. The hair color description is way too real. I have one saved right now that I only remember as "the guy with the really bad mustache.
