Got stuck between sub or dub for Vinland Saga, chaos followed

I tried to marathon it with my roommate last Sunday, she wanted sub, I wanted dub, so we compromised and watched the first 3 episodes in both. Now we can't agree on which one felt better, and season 2 is just sitting there waiting for us. Has anyone else had a picky anime debate ruin a whole watch party?

Watching both ways is actually the worst way to settle it, your brain gets used to whichever one you hear second. The dub voice actors really nailed Thorfinn's quiet anger in season 1, but the sub has that raw Icelandic feel in the dialogue that makes the setting hit harder. You basically gotta flip a coin and stick with it, because switching mid series makes the characters sound wrong no matter what. Season 2 is so dialogue heavy that the pacing matters more than the language, so just pick the one that felt less distracting and go.
