Just walked out of the new anime cafe in Springfield and the vibe was totally off

Went there last Friday, super excited. The decor was all over the place, mixing random shows. Heard a guy at the next table say, 'This feels like a mall food court got lost.' He was right. It made me think, what actually makes a good themed cafe work? Any spots that nailed it?

Felt the same at a comic shop cafe last month. The good ones pick one theme and go all in. Like that Totoro spot in the city, everything from the music to the mugs fits. Bad ones just slap some posters up and call it a day. It needs to feel real, not cheap. Springfield place sounds like it missed the point completely.

What used to be a fun idea to me now just feels lazy. I used to think any themed spot was cool, but you're right about needing the full package. That Totoro cafe example is perfect. When every little thing adds to the vibe, it actually takes you somewhere. The Springfield place just proves a few posters and a menu name don't cut it. It ends up feeling like a sad costume instead of a real place.
